The Kind Closet - At Home Styling Service
by Altish Yousaf

Our clothes witness our stories long before anyone else does. They know the silent changes we go through; the weight gained or lost, the new confidence or the quiet moments of self doubt. And if you think about it, the most cherished pieces in our wardrobes aren’t always the ones that are the most on-trend or expensive. They are the ones that have been there - through job changes, new cities, breakups, babies, and all the invisible transitions that shape a woman’s life.

The Closet That Cares
And as a stylist, I have always believed in clothes that honour these transitions. And when I saw this being reflected in The Maternity Project’s philosophy, I felt an instant connection with the brand. Yes, the brand began with mothers in mind, but its real magic lies in how the clothes make every woman feel seen, whether she’s pregnant, postpartum or doesn’t identify with either. And that's where the idea for The Kind Closet was born. Not as a trend, but as a philosophy; curated for women who want kindness in fabric and fashion. It's a safe space that isn't based on trends. It’s timeless but not boring. It’s curated but not constricting. And most importantly, it’s designed to honour wherever you are in life.

Build a support network
For me, The Kind Closet concept came from a place of empathy, introducing it as a movement towards a more compassionate relationship with our wardrobes. Kindness in fashion is more than soft fabrics or a forgiving cut; it’s creating a space where clothing serves you, instead of it being the other way around. The Kind Closet neither shames you for changing, nor demands you to confirm. It holds space for every version of you - the joyful, the uncertain, the exhausted, the ambitious - and tells you that you’re welcome here. To be honest, one of the most compassionate things you can do is dress for the mood you’re in, not the one you think you should be performing. There could be some days where you reach for bold patterns that say “I’m here.” Other days, you’ll want neutrals that whisper softness. A Kind Closet holds space for both and everything in between, and this is why it has now found its home at The Maternity Project.
Together, TMP and I are taking it from a personal styling philosophy into something you can actually experience in the comfort of your own home. Our The Kind Closet At Home Styling Service, isn't about turning your wardrobe upside down in one afternoon. It’s about listening, and understanding where you are right now, what makes you feel most like yourself, and then curating pieces that honour that version of you.

Style That Moves With You
Because here’s the truth: style is not static, and neither are you. We all move through phases - careers, relationships, health and emotional shifts, and each one subtly alters what we need from our clothes. Yet the fashion industry tends to only speak to us in absolutes; e.g. “this season’s must haves,” or “the perfect jeans,” etc. The Kind Closet rejects that rigidity and instead builds a wardrobe that evolves with you because it's not just about the clothes themselves, it’s also about what happens when you slip into them. This closet doesn’t chase trends for validation or push
you into someone else's mould; it invites you to wear what makes you feel confident, grounded, and celebrates your pace.
My hope is that The Kind Closet At Home Styling Service becomes more than a service or a concept. I want The Kind Closet to be a quiet revolution in the way women think about their wardrobes, and a space that reflects not just who you are today, but who you’re becoming. One that grows with you, and stays gentle in the ways it shows up for you. One that doesn’t make you feel like you’re falling behind if you’ve evolved past corsets or constriction. One that reminds you that you’re allowed to change, and to be seen the way you feel in that moment, in that phase of life. The Kind Closet is there to support you through every chapter of your journey; it’s a wardrobe for the woman who is becoming, unbecoming, and everything in between. After all, it isn’t just about clothes, it’s about honoring your story, one outfit at a time.
